We’re friends living to bring God to the world.
TEAM ACTIVITY:
Most importantly, team members seek the heart of the Father. We seek to be His Presence. This is expressed in a warm welcome. An eagerness to be attuned to another’s soul. A desire and confidence to be an instrument of His blessing.
We commit to fasting, praying & proclaiming in advance. Team members share the proclamation by posting invitations on their social media and, within reason, reaching out personally though every means.
All gather an hour before. We declare the place holy. We lift Him in praise. We avail to outpouring of His Holy Spirit. His appointing and anointing.
Typically we pair two by two. Respecting space and distance sensibilities, we encourage all to move as they are led. Some approach us. Others may be led to approach. We are not counselors nor social workers.
We are there to pray:
1) That they know they are personally loved by God, and; 2) Specifically for their prayer requests.
We offer them a card inviting them to a gathering set later involving a time of worship, message and further prayer. If they had a meaningful experience, we encourage them to go to this site and share their story.
In addition, team members are discerned and assigned to various service needs based upon their gifts, interests, and availability.
TEAM REQUIREMENTS:
(1) Orthodoxy. Profession of the Apostles Creed (circa 180AD);
(2) Witness. Evidently pursuing it;
(3) Validation. Recommended by an existing team member.
DISPOSITION: THE HEART OF DISCIPLINES AND DESIGNS
This is not ultimately about our actions and plans. God is interested in our hearts. (Joel 2:13) There’s nothing around us more powerful than what He desires to do within and through us. We seek the heart of the Father beating within us. For everyone. All the time. We’re about being forged in a way of life.
Accordingly, we encourage Prayer Team members to constantly pursue ever-greater surrender and intimacy with the Father. That we might walk in our appointing and anointing in Jesus Christ. (Col. 1:15-20) God’s living vessels. (Rom. 9:21) Libations pouring out. (2 Tim. 4:6) Streams of living water. (John 7:38)
Prior to each Prayer Place event team members will declare holy ground through a time of worship and word. We will be free from debris in order to be filled to overflow.
It will be said of us: “The community of believers were of one heart and soul… with power they gave witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” (Acts. 4:32-34) “No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” (1 John 4:12)
ALWAYS BE READY TO GIVE WITNESS
Team members should “always be ready to give witness for the reason for our hope” in Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 3:15) Here are the basic movements of our ultimate human drama in Jesus Christ. Beginning with a quick introduction, each event will involve a select team member sharing his/her story, concluding with an appeal to accept Jesus Christ in 7 minutes or less.
1: Intimacy. We were made for intimacy with God, who is love, and in Him, with all others. We are the fabric of His nature. Our deepest yearning is to be loved and to love. (Colossians 1)
2: Separation. We have sinned. Sin means separation. As God is Light, our sin leaves us in darkness. As God is Love, our sin leaves us in alienation. As God is Life, our sin leaves us in death. Languishing. Pining. Sin always results in a mess. In need of a Messiah. Someone to save us. (Romans 3:23-24)
3: Restoration. Jesus Christ became man so we could be restored to God. He took on the penalty of our sin, accomplishing our redemption by means of His blood on the Cross. (Eph. 1:4-10)
4: Receiving. The gift is free, but we must receive Him. We must confess our sin and claim Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior. (Romans 6)
5: Living. Like the apostle Paul we are working out our salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13), marked by a life of ever-greater transformation (Rom. 12:1-2).
